DIGITAL TECHNIQUE: Project
1. VECTOR GRAPHICS, PHOTOS, AND LAYERS: Logotype & Logomarks – Logo proposals for own brand
- Create a 2+ page brand logotype & logomark presentation
- Choose a name for your brand, without using your own name.
- Choose three or four adjectives to represent the personality of your new brand. This is your brand DNA.
- Place two key looks/outfits for your fashion brand in the logo presentation file to support your brand persona.
- Consider brand personality in considering logotype options
- Hand-rendered and typefaces, whether serif, sans serif, or script
- DIGITAL TECHNIQUES:
- Type and paragraph tools
- Guides to line up text
- Hand-rendering: vectorizing hand-drawn lettering
- Graphic Design:
- Typography: serifs, sans serifs vs script
- Anatomy
- Kerning, tracking, leading
- Consider space away (white space) around the logo as part of the brand’s real estate
- Majority type layout considering margins and alignments across pages
- Typography: serifs, sans serifs vs script
2. TRIM MARKS & BLEEDS: Branded Postcard Set – Integrating logo and vector elements with photos
- Creating vector graphics based logos
- Analyzing logos and product forms (in original course), such as perfume bottles
- Geometric shapes (see original curriculum PDF)
- Organic shapes (see original curriculum PDF)
- Postcard set: making a consistent series with different patterns and colorways
- DIGITAL TECHNIQUES:
- Integrating graphics, images, and text using layers
- Bleed lines: ensuring artwork meets bleed lines for proper trimming
- Creating geometric-based vector graphics
- Creating organic shapes and employing the Pen Tool
