Self-Exploration: the Fashion Editorial
Digital Techniques has always been student centered, embracing the diversity of its international and domestic student population. In these classic fashion print editorials, students literally place themselves center stage, while putting their unique creative stamp on the genre. Students explore what helps define their style from musical tastes to ideal locales to their go-to wardrobe. They research the fashion print editorial genre, exploring visual hierarchy and the mechanics of what makes a “tasteful” layout. In this Photoshop assignment, students demonstrate their photography, silhouetting, photo-compositing, and layout skills. One “fashion set” is from their closet and another aspirational set is from online sources.
At the graduate level, student explore the cultural zeitgeist of the times, researching and curating elements that make up a current industry trend with Culture Pages (see gallery above).
